Interesting interview on Coast to Coast. I would say recently, but it was back in September.

The interview was with Dr. Bruce Lipton, someone I am intrigued by. He wrote the book “The Biology of Belief” – I highly recommend everyone to read it. Here is a tidbit from Coast’s website that kind of summarizes a main point of Dr. Lipton’s:

Lipton outlined what he called the “Four Myth-Perceptions of the Apocalypse”:

• The world or universe is Newtonian in nature– based on physical matter, and materialistic values. This is being disproved by quantum physics, which shows that an invisible realm is involved in shaping matter, and points to the connection between science and spirituality.
• We’re a victim of our genes. We’re not a victim of heredity, but can actively participate in the health of our cells/genes through our perceptions and thoughts, and breaking free from subconscious programming.
• The world is based on competition. This kind of Darwinian thinking keeps us armed, guarded and stressed. Evolution actually favors community and cooperation.
• Random evolution occurred. Organisms were designed to bring harmony to the environment; they are adaptive, not random.

In this post I will collect some ideas about how to easily sense chi/prana, etc. If you’re a skeptic, it can’t hurt to try but it is important that you keep an open mind when searching for the truth. If you think it won’t work, then it won’t. But what would be the point in that? If you keep an open mind and try and be as objective as possible, then your test will yield real results. After all, that is what we’re after – the Truth, right?

We venture futher into the field of “new biology” and Dr. Bruce Lipton continues to be a dynamic and exciting narrator. He does tend to lay on the jargon and terminology quite a bit, but he offers some pretty good explanations in order to make the information relevant and understandable.

In this chapter, we focus on one notion – “it’s the environment, stupid”. This mantra keeps cropping up in relation to the study of cellular behavior. The cells, apparently, are greatly affected by their environments and retain the qualities of their lives while living in a particular environment.

First, Dr. Lipton reminds us, that we must remember that the concept that genes control biology is a theory. A theory, it turns out, that is based on hype and not on actual results – in fact, the latest research has demonstrated that this hypothesis is false. “When a gene product is needed, a signal from the environment, not an emergent property of the gene itself, activates expression of that gene.” (Lipton, The Biology of Belief, p. 52)

The truth is, it turns out, proteins are the most important parts of cells. Each protein is composed of a string of amino acids that are found along a flexible, peptide bonds. These bonds allow for the proteins to take on whatever shape required, which is based on the electromagnetic charges of the elements found along the protein’s string. Once these proteins take their shape, they can alter their shapes if the electromagnetic properties change due to several factors at the molecular level. These uniquely shaped proteins begin to interact with other uniquely shaped proteins much in the same way as gears work together to create motion and animation. The driving force, it seems, is the electromagnetic forces coming to play in the shaping of the protein molecules. This constant moving and shifting is the movement that propels life.

It was once believed that DNA was the primal force in the life of cells. The doctrine of “primacy of DNA” followed that there was one direction of information within the cell – from DNA to RNA to protein. Turns out, this is not true. The field of epigenetics stresses the importance of proteins and has now changed the doctrine of the “primacy of DNA” to work a bit differently: Environmental Signal to Regulatory Protein to DNA to RNA to Protein – AND back! Instead of just a one way street, a signal can actualy go back up the chain as well.

So traits of living things are not simply the result of the blueprint contained within their genes. In fact, living things, at their heart, are collections of systems of cells and if we understand how cells work then we understand how lifeforms are composed. As it turns out, Dr. Bruce Lipton is stating that the environment within which a cell lives has a direct effect on the information that is to be recorded in the gene. More importantly, this information is passed on generation to generation within the cell world. In other words, we shouldn’t look at someone’s genes but at the factors that went into shaping those genes in the first place. The biggest factor to examine straight away? The environment within which the cells had to live.

The Biology of Belief was written by Dr. Bruce Lipton and seems to be on the cutting edge of a new biology. It is an innovative look at the power of mind, matter and consciousness and how these basic forces give shape to our lives.

I am examining a copy that was lent to me to help me kind of get my head around some of these ideas. I feel instinctively drawn to these radical, new fields of science that are developing – mostly because in some way it seems like the kind of knowledge that was once known thousands of years ago. Yes, I do put great stock in the minds of antiquity.

For this exercise, mostly for my own selfish needs, I am going to kind of examine each chapter as I read the book. Starting with Chapter 1 (Lessons from the Petri Dish: In praise of smart cells and smart students) I want to try and flesh out ideas and points of interest to elicit discussion and also to remind me of things that seemed important at the time. So, let’s begin.

The chapter is basically focused on an introduction. Dr. Bruce Lipton has migrated to the Carribean, where he continues to teach and do his research. His academic needs aside, he also gets one of those opportunities we most often don’t recognize at first – a chance to do it your way and a chance to change. He describes his students and the situation he walked into at first – mid semester with under-prepared and bored students.

The basic tenet is the illustration of the battleground over the theory of evolution. In one camp, the Darwin camp, is the idea that species evolved over struggle and strife, meeting violent forces of nature and only the fit would outlive and endure. The weak are to be tossed aside as chafe. There is another notion, however, that is starting to take shape and possible prevail. The idea is that species interact with one another and are dependent on one another for their survival. This symbiotic idea also makes these communities more efficient in their means to survive, therby eliciting an evolution to take place.

Dr. Lipton really hashes out this idea by turning towards a method of anthropomorphizing the behavior of cells. He notes the danger of anthropomorphism, but is convincing in that concerns over such an approach are really misplaced. In fact, it is appropriate within a certain context and can be a useful tool for education. That said, the idea of cell activity – single cell organisms – are depicted to support this community-based evolution. He cites examples of somatic hypermutation as well as intra-species gene trading that goes on. It was long thought that species leave their progeny with genes, but now we see that species share gene traits with other species. Genes, however, are not the end all be all for determining an organism’s behavior. Genes are likened to tangible memories, by which an organism passes on the “data” of survival to its community – not just its progeny.

Basically, everything is either a single-celled organism or composed of a number of those single-celled organisms to make up a multi-celled organism. An amoeba, a rock, a human, a whale – all share the fundamental composition of celled structure and these cells all united to create systems whereby their mutual existence ensures a better, more productive and peaceful life span. It is this impulse that brings us all together and the need for us to unite with one another and connect. I suppose it is also this identification with a given community that forces us to create war with one another, too.

For Dr. Lipton, these single-celled organisms demonstrate learning and they pass this information on in their DNA and their genes. Thus we have evolution but as these cells come together and change their behavior, thus changing this DNA, they are also evolving as clumped units and systems. If we begin to see ourselves as a vast universe of collections of cells and these systems, we begin to understand fundamentally that we are all connected in some way and that seperation is just a matter of illusion. We also learn the valuable lesson of community and teamwork. We learn that we are stronger when we unite and shed the idea of the survival of the fittest. “Two can live as cheaply as one” is an idea brought forward by Dr. Lipton. It also demonstrates the idea that if survival is the key then organisms must come together and work together. United we stand, divided we fall is very true here. This also gives insight into the potential of the “hive mindset” which tools like the Internet make great use of.

If, for example, you want to learn about a particular subject – create a website about it. That way you will have a community of people, all with different experiences and knowledge about a given subject, coming together and discussing that topic. The ongoing body of knowledge, in this example of mine the website, would be like the DNA that is transmitted generation to generation being altered by each subsequent generation as the paradigms of knowledge shift and change.

Pretty good discussion to start with, I think.

On the April 13th 2008 show, Ian Punnett interviewed a guest on Coast to Coast that claimed to be able to see UFOs in the night sky using 3rd generation night vision goggles. The researcher’s name is Ed Grimsley, and his claims have lead to the production of a DVD which shows some of these ships in action – only miles above the Earth’s surface.

This warrants an investigation. I would like to find a pair of night vision goggles that would be powerful enough to look up into the night sky and see if there is indeed something up there. Can’t hurt to look, right?

This is something of great interest to us all, and yet it is something most familiar.

We can talk about our search for energy alternatives, but we don’t start talking about the fact that all matter is nothing more than the alternative of energy. We know that in order to get energy we must split matter, and that matter and energy’s relationship can be summed up in e=mc².

There seems to be little to deny this fact. Yet, why does the concept of chi, chi gong, hado or even the chakra energy system seem strange to us? There are many who have studied and perfected these concepts. We need to awaken to these possibilities and in understanding the true nature of reality, we can use these concepts as didactic tools to help us comprehend.

I will be looking at these concepts more in future articles such as the idea that the ancient Greeks may have called this force menos, the Romans may have used the terms anima and animus were often interchanged. Yet there is a distinction that must be made, anima is simply the life force of living things, that which animates, while animus seems to imply consciousness and relates to intelligence and reason. The dynamics of these forces belong to the dynamic of breathing or respiration. The Romans used the words spiro or conspiro to demonstrate the generation or validation for the existence of animus/anima. In fact, this is where the word inspired comes from because you are literally “breathing in” something and adding it to your animus. (Also, let’s not overlook the word spirit and its significance in religious/spiritual thought) The Greeks used the word pneuma and also associated this life force with breath.

In ancient Sanskrit, it was known as prana and it, too, was associated with breathing. In fact, yogic principles discuss breath and the science of breathing used to accumulate one’s prana – just as the cultures of the East in Asia generate chi through one’s breathing techniques.

Technically, they would be called psychomantea – but whose counting.

What is a psychomanteum? I must admit, as a classicist and someone who knows ancient Latin and Greek, I have never come across this word before – but that doesn’t  mean it doesn’t exist. Basically, it is a means of divination and a way to communicate with an alternate reality which is slowly becoming more widely accepted and proven to exist.

Dr. Raymond Moody is one of the world’s experts on using the psychomanteum in order to treat patients and help them cope with loss. The controversy is over whether or not the treatment is real or just a type of coping mechanism which helps people who have lost loved ones find comfort with their situation. Either way, it is effective.

Where’d they go? Something else that needs a bit more research.

Gas prices are now coming down and there is a lawsuit out there pending concerning collusion and possible price gouging. The problem isn’t necessarily the fact that we are “addicted” to foreign oil, the problem is that we are living within a dangerous paradigm of control where those that control the flow of oil form an elite class at the top of the pyramid of all societies. That is, the part at the top right beneath the international banking cartels.

Yet, the spirit of innovation – even in today’s drastically dumbed down America – lives on. There are those who are pushing for innovation and are looking for alternatives. These individuals need to be supported and celebrated – and protected. Surely, there are forces that wish to preserve the current system of things and will stop at nothing to do so. That brings us to our first story – Stan Meyer.

Stan Meyer seems to be the main catalyst behind this.

Stan Meyer died suddenly in 1998 after sipping on a drink at a restaurant. Conspiracy theories abound and point to those interests who would benefit from his death and the suppression of his technological developments.

The fact is, Meyer was able to find an efficient way to harvest hydrogen from water. There are patents on his inventions, but since his death 10 years ago there seems to have been little movement in this regard. His brother continues his work but it isn’t the same. Then there is this – a couple of interesting break throughs from one man: John Kanzius.

I believe diabetes type 2 is diet induced. I believe that it is something that CAN be changed and cured for good.

I am looking into the Tree of Life program (their website needs work!) but here is a trailer for a video that they helped produce called “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days”. This is a way to defeat diabetes.

I am type 2 diabetic. Let me say that again, I am type 2 diabetic. I am saying that not to affirm the identity to myself, but rather to acknowledge that something is wrong and that I have to change it. I believe that I arrived here as the result of my choices which I made in life. I believe my poor eating habits are the sole reason for the way my body is failing to metabolize food.

You are what you eat. Plain, simple. Truth is like that – direct. The emotion we bring to it, the attachment, is the obstacle in getting over it. We make it hard on ourselves to overcome the difficulties in our life only because we attach ourselves to the identity we construct. We invest in our edifaces, we are like Pygmalion always falling in love with our creation. We obsess over our mask and believe it to be our real self.

Such is the challenge when confronted with a disease like type 2 diabetes. People will feel sorry for you and try to comfort you and you will also give in to that and believe it to. It’s not your fault, just something happened to you which you had no control over. Nothing, in actuality, is further from the truth. You did have control and in fact, you lost it because you chose to give it up.

Naked, cold yet true. That’s Truth. So, why am I blathering on? Because if I am going to change, I must take it upon myself to make the change. I must get serious and admit there is something wrong and not blindly turn away and roll over. You need to head straight towards the wreck; you need to walk directly into that storm. You will emerge on the other side, but you first must make that step towards the danger.

Here is where it gets deep: such an act defies your instincts. Such an act feels unnatural. But when you consider that the creation you have tied your identity to wants to survive – in fact, it is fighting to stay alive and exert its dominance over you – you realize that you aren’t the one that faces obliteration, but rather the old self. The self, the creation, that needs change, that has overstepped its bounds and is now destroying your life – the very thing you created in your lab but were too lazy to protect yourself from – now has to be shut down and destroyed so you can get back to what you once were.

So, there is hope. For type 2 diabetics the only thing keeping you from a cure is your excuses. It is simply your old self fighting to stay alive and keep you in the current coma you are in. If you can realize it, stand up and dare to fight back you can and will beat it. There is a path. There is a way. There is hope: but it is not easy. And the price to pay is great for you will be killing your current self to recover what you want to be, what you promised yourself you would be.

The path is being forged. All you must do is dare to walk it. In terms of type 2, that means cutting out your sugar intake, cutting out your ingestion of animal-based products and instead turning towards plant based diet selections. You must exercise more – not become a gym rat or anything, just exercise.

Now that we have crossed this bridge and pointed the finger toward the mirror, lets see hope. I will be updating this blog in order to give myself and anyone else out there some inspiration, hope, and information.
